Upper and lower eyelid surgery

Eyelid surgery with careful planning and realistic advice

Hooded upper lids or pronounced under-eye bags can create a tired appearance and may sometimes restrict the upper visual field. Before considering blepharoplasty, Dr Adem Dobra examines the eyelids, discusses your expectations and assesses whether surgery can be planned safely and appropriately.

What eyelid surgery can address

Upper blepharoplasty removes selected excess skin and, where appropriate, a small amount of fat or muscle through the natural lid crease. Lower-lid treatment may address skin excess, fat pads and lid support, depending on the finding.

Upper and lower blepharoplasty are different operations. Skin quality, lid position, the eye surface and relevant medical conditions determine whether and how treatment is suitable.

Assessment and shared decision-making

The consultation covers symptoms, medicines, previous eye surgery, dry-eye problems and your expectations. Blood-thinning medicines must not be stopped without medical advice.

No particular cosmetic result can be guaranteed. Photographs may support medical documentation and planning, but are not used as before-and-after advertising.

Recovery, risks and warning signs

Swelling, bruising, tightness and temporarily dry or irritated eyes can occur. Other risks include infection, visible scarring, asymmetry, altered lid position or incomplete eye closure.

Severe pain, rapidly increasing one-sided swelling or a new change in vision needs immediate medical assessment. Rare bleeding behind the eye can threaten sight.

When will I look presentable again?

Swelling and bruising vary and may remain visible for days or weeks. You receive individual advice on cooling, wound care and follow-up.

Is the result permanent?
